On the Camí dels Bons Homes we know that a route is not only travelled with feet or by bicycle, but also through the emotions awakened by hospitality along the way.

That’s why we have taken a step forward in tourism quality by creating the Manual for Good Hospitality to Hikers and Cyclists, a guide conceived with and for the affiliated establishments and services with the objective of improving the attention and services they offer.

This manual is not just a document — it is a practical and collaborative tool that enables accommodations, guides, information points and transport services to offer a higher-quality experience. And those who benefit are the hikers and cyclists who traverse the Camí dels Bons Homes: they will find better-adapted services, useful information, specific amenities and a warmer and safer welcome.

What will you find in it?

The manual has been structured into six thematic blocks that cover everything that can make a difference on the journey:

• Useful and up-to-date information, from medical services to public transport.

• A “Corner of the Route” with materials and resources at the disposal of guests.

• Specific facilities for hikers and cyclists: spaces to dry clothes, tools for bicycles, safety…

• A gastronomic offer adapted to their needs: balanced meals, take-away options and local recipes.

• Flexible reservation management, designed for small groups and single-night stays.

• Environmental commitment, promoting sustainable practices such as recycling along the route.

A practical and inspiring tool for the establishments

The manual has been conceived as a living guide that each establishment can use to:

• Self-evaluate their services and detect areas for improvement.

• Compare themselves with other accommodations in the network.

• Get inspired and incorporate new actions that enrich the guest experience.
  Furthermore, establishments that apply the good practices can obtain special recognition within the Camí dels Bons Homes, appearing in the official promotional materials. Thus, improving services not only benefits travellers, but also brings visibility and value to the establishments themselves.

A collective construction rooted in the territory

This project is the result of joint work between the Agència de Desenvolupament del Berguedà and the Agence de Développement Touristique Ariège Pyrénées, supported by the consultancy Repte Territorial, SL and the active participation of many establishments and local entities. The methodology used has been based on participatory sessions, experience exchanges and a shared self-diagnosis tool, thus achieving a useful, realistic and entirely rooted guidance for the territory.

The manual has been made possible thanks to the support of the International Strategy of the Diputació de Barcelona, and it is already available to consult free of charge on the Camí dels Bons Homes website.
