Recommendations
To do this route on horseback, consider that both you and the horses must be prepared to do it, it is a long route with steep slopes.
The route is spectacular but has some technical difficulties. Not suitable for beginners, but great for experienced riders. The entire path can be done on horseback, but there are sections that must be followed, especially the variant through the Mountain bikes.
In the event that in a stage you have 2 options, one on a track and the other on a narrow path, the horses must follow the track, so that the path does not deteriorate.
When riding a horse, it usually starts in Vilaformiu towards Casanova of the Garrigues.
From Casanova to Peguera you will find the Peguera tunnel...which there are horses that are afraid to pass through. There is a small path that comes out to the left of the tunnel in case the horse refuses to pass through it.
From Peguera to Gósol you should take the variant of Bonner (not the GR 107 that passes due to the Roc gran del Ferrús, it is not suitable for horses).
The stretch of Bellver to Prullans which passes through the N-260 road, is not at all recommended for horseback riding, it is better to take the winter variant that goes through the Vall de Meranges and Vall de Carol, or look for an alternative path between Bellver and Prullans that goes along the sunny side (2h).
The rest of the sections are suitable for horses.
It is recommended to plan the route so that the last stage is night with the horses in Roquefixada instead of Foix. There are no accommodations in Foix that can accept horses.
