HOW TO EQUIPE YOURSELF FOR HIKING IN SPRING?

The good weather is approaching and we feel like going out for a walk in the mountains more than ever and starting new sports activities and in the natural environment.

 

Before embarking on the adventure, you will need to know how to equip yourself for hiking in the spring, especially if you want to do a trek like ours.

It seems like an easy task, some pants and boots, but there are materials that will help us enjoy it more, according to  the degree of difficulty of the route.

 

What clothes and accessories should you bring for spring hiking?

In spring the heat begins to intensify, without reaching the high temperatures of summer, but close. In the mountains, the temperature varies depending on altitude and meteorological factors.

It is important to be prepared and bring extra clothes even if the weather seems favorable, to reduce the risks that can be caused by fluctuating temperatures and weather conditions. 

 

Clothing is the main element that protects against temperature changes during a hiking route or against factors such as rain, wind or cold. So that you are not caught off guard, our recommendation is that you always wear the following items:

  • Fleece lining. If it is a route with uneven terrain or high mountain peaks, prepare a second fleece lining. Between dawn and dusk you will notice the low temperatures, you will even do so if it is a very high area. Fleece is lighter in weight than a coat and protects in the same way.
  • Raincoat. Raincoats are not the same as a raincoat. These have a cap part to cover the head and the rest is an open layer that protects the body and backpack. So your backpack won't get wet either and you'll keep the clothes and objects you store in it safe.
  • T-shirt. It's good to bring a spare shirt to replace the one you're wearing if you sweat a lot and the temperature drops so you don't get cold or if it rains. You will avoid colds and other illnesses.
  • Appropriate footwear. For hiking, not just any type of footwear or sneakers will do. In spring it is appropriate to use a hiking shoe or boot, which is breathable.
  • Sunglasses. Sunglasses are important to protect your eyes and walk in the mountains enjoying your full field of vision. When the light or the sun's rays are very strong during the route, you can be a little blinded and the glasses will help you see better.  obstacles or stones.

  • Backpack for one  28 liters so that it is comfortable and has enough capacity to carry everything we propose.
  • Canteen or bottle of water, We are fans of water bottles because they keep the water fresh and are environmentally friendly and you can use them on all your outings. Bring at least 3 liters of water.
  • Sunscreen to protect the face from sun radiation and avoid burns in areas exposed to the outdoors.
  • Cap to protect the head from sunstroke.
  • GPS with downloaded tracks  to guide you if at any point on the route you get lost or stray from the main path, and downloaded in case at any point you don't find a signal.
  • Walking sticks, they will make your walk easier 

With all these materials you will be ready to go on your route during the spring and some of the proposed materials will help you continue during the summer. Equip yourself properly and enjoy walking!
